We
work at the pace with which you’re comfortable. |
And, because we’re
specialists, we can take the time you need to help you handle all
the details:
-
Eliminate
uninformed, "just get rid of it" decision-making,
-
Sort
belongings, so valuable items are identified,
-
Get
objective, professional appraisals,
-
Find
buyers and get the best prices,
-
Make
donations,
-
Coordinate
movers,
-
And,
when it’s appropriate, get your home ready to sell -- also
at the best price.
Relocating
to something more manageable?
Byron Home specializes in
helping seniors who are considering a move.
Usually it’s a move into smaller, more manageable living quarters
-- an apartment, a condominium, a 55+ community, assisted living facility,
or a continuing-care retirement community.
At Byron Home, we know that the very idea of a move is overwhelming.
Don’t
know where to begin?
People
simply don't know where to begin.
And with grown children often living outside the area or working full-time
even if they’re nearby, family members sometimes just aren’t available
to help, even though they would like to.
This leaves downsizing seniors with so much to do.
Not
just belongings -- memories
The
family home is not just a place that's full of belongings. It’s also
full of memories.
So, it’s very difficult to decide what to keep, what to give to give
away or sell, and what everything is worth. And it’s also difficult to
decide what to do about getting the house ready to sell -- at the best
price.
Working
with specialists
That’s where Byron Home
can help. We don’t do financial planning, real estate sales, elder
law, or locate senior housing. But we can work with all of these types of
specialists--and the family--to handle the seemingly endless, bothersome,
practical details of an upcoming move.
Getting
ready to move
A move, even one that is well-planned, is complicated.
Getting ready for it requires:
-
Going
through closets, drawers, attics and basements,
-
Taking
inventory and, often, sorting through things along with children, or
with them in mind,
-
Getting
appraisals, buyers, or finding a place to donate belongings that won¹t
make the move.
Avoiding
"Just Get Rid of It" syndrome
Getting ready also
requires a certain kind of stamina.
You don’t want to get worn down by the "hassle" and give in to
the temptation to "just get rid of it," only to find out later
that those items were more valuable than you realized.
Coordinating
sales and/or appraisals
Often seniors and their
families don’t know the value of their items.
We will bring in several potential buyers to help you get the most
for those items you wish to sell. Or
you may want an appraisal for insurance purposes.
"My
wife wouldn't have any ideas what my train collection is worth.
Someone could come in
and offer her $1,000 and yet it is probably worth at least $5,000.”
Preserving
the memories -- a
special Byron Home service
And, because some
items are just too personally important to sell or give away, we can even
help you mount and frame special items and memorabilia for yourself--or
for your loved ones.
Getting the most
for your home
Many
seniors have lived in their homes for many years, and now the residences
have appreciated considerably. So
when it's time to sell, you want to, need to--and deserve to--maximize
the profit from the sale.
We show you how to do just
that by:
-
Making
those few simple changes that are proven winners in making the house
more marketable,
-
Clearing
up confusion about what fix-ups will pay off versus what is just time
or money down the drain, and
-
Coordinating
a clean-up blitz--yard work, painting, or some strategic
"de-cluttering" to show the home at its best.
When
children, or other family members, can’t
do it all because of jobs, distance, or other circumstances
At Byron Home, we know what it’s like to be overwhelmed by the emotional
exhaustion of it all, the years of accumulated belongings, the sheer
number of things to do.
And we know what it’s like to wish you had someone to work with you to
do what needs to get done.
Maybe it’s just getting things organized for a move.
Maybe it’s arranging for appraisals of key items and then following
through by arranging either a sale or donation.
Or maybe it¹s getting the house cleaned up and fixed-up, so you can
really show its potential and get the best price.
We’ll work with you--or anyone you designate--to provide whatever level
of help the family needs.
"The bottom line is that my staff and I help the way the family
would, if they could. But we do it for many clients, so they
all benefit from our experience.
"One person told me: ' It’s
like having a daughter help you!'
"Unfortunately, many seniors don't have daughters or sons in the
area. Or, if they do, their adult children are part of the ‘sandwich
generation,’ working full time and raising their own families.
"That’s why we’re here. Our job is to allow the family members to
focus on what they need to do. We'll handle the rest. Click
